Chiropractic and Muscle Rehabilitation (Kinesiotherapy) are two complementary approaches to addressing musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. While each modality has its own unique focus and techniques, together they can provide a holistic and multidimensional approach to treating pain and restoring function.
Chiropractic care primarily focuses on the alignment and movement of the spine and other joints in the body. Chiropractors use manual adjustments, mobilization techniques, and other therapies to correct misalignments and improve joint function. By doing so, they can alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and promote overall health and wellness.
Kinesiotherapy, on the other hand, is a form of therapeutic exercise that aims to improve strength, flexibility, and range of motion. It involves a personalized exercise program designed to address specific areas of weakness or dysfunction, with the goal of restoring optimal function and reducing pain. When used together, chiropractic care and kinesiotherapy can be a powerful combination for addressing musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Chiropractic adjustments can help to realign the spine and other joints, improving mobility and reducing pain.
Kinesiotherapy can then be used to build strength, flexibility, and endurance, supporting long-term function and helping to prevent future injury. Several peer-reviewed articles support the effectiveness of chiropractic care and kinesiotherapy in combination. A 2016 study published in the Journal of Physical Therapy Science found that combining chiropractic adjustments with kinesiotherapy was effective in reducing low back pain and improving lumbar spine flexibility.
Another study published in the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine in 2017 found that combining chiropractic adjustments with a structured exercise program was effective in reducing pain and improving function in patients with chronic low back pain. Finally, a 2018 review article published in the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine found that a combination of chiropractic care and therapeutic exercise was effective in reducing pain and improving function in patients with musculoskeletal pain. The authors concluded that this approach could provide a safe and effective alternative to traditional medical treatments for musculoskeletal pain.
